DrumSensor.com's "Replacement Hit Sensor" Review
By Joel Kuntz (frozenfire12) www.360-Hq.com
Supplier: www.DrumSensor.com

The guys over at www.DrumSensor.com have recently given 360-Hq the opportunity to review their "Replacement Hit Sensors" which can be used to replace your old sensors that may be worn out or cracked. They have two different kinds of sensors, the Plug and Play Sensors as well as the Scotchlok Sensors, and we got a chance to review their Plug and Play one. Thanks must go to DrumSensor.com for this opportunity to review their product.

If you are on the 360-Hq Homepage click Read More to check out the full review.

Why Replace the Sensors?
Rock Band, like any other peripheral based game, the hardware does have its faults. Rock Band initially had many (Guitars didn't work right, and the drum sensors cracked easily.) But why would anyone want to replace their drum sensors when they could just send it to EA? For starters EA only offers so long of a warranty after you buy Rock Band, and Secondly EA just puts more of their crappy sensors in. I know in the newer kits the sensors are a bit higher quality, but nothing compares to www.DrumSensor.com replacements (from personal experience of using friends repaired and new kits.)

How do I Replace the Sensors?
Well if you ordered a replacement sensor kit from www.DrumSensor.com, when you receive your sensors the installation is quite simple. All you have to do is pop off your drum head (there are four locking pads in the corners of the head.) Then if you have the plug and play kit just unplug the connector, and replace your old sensor with the new one. You must use the band-aid like tape from your old sensor which is somewhat of a pain. The Scotchlok Sensors are a bit harder, but still easy in my books (from working with other Scotchlok products.) If this seems confusing to you, don't worry they offer full color instructions on their website to save paper.

Do the Replacement Sensors Work?
To put it plainly, Yes. The Sensors work really well. After plugging the sensor in and playing a few songs I noticed that there were no mis-hits at all like the stock sensors. I found that drum rolls were way easier and I could hit the drum pad anywhere (where as I had to hit the middle with the stock one.) If your Rock Band drums are acting up on you I recommend you give this product a try.

If you have any problems installing your sensors feel free to make a post in our Forums and someone will help you out.

Final Score:

Build Quality: The sensors seem pretty thick to prevent breaking. With lifetime warranty you know these are good.

5/5

Packaging: Pretty neat packaging with the Band Credentials. It is neat for someone who is into the whole band thing. For those who aren't it seems like a waste and could have been used to lower cost.

4/5

Ease of Use: Very simple to use. Literally pop off, and plug in. If you drums have glue on the connections it can make it a pain.

5/5

Overall: These are great sensors and really easy to use. They are a bit overpriced compared to other replacement sensors, and the lack of tape is a real disappointment as the band-aid original stuff is easily breakable.

4/5

Verdict: Reccomended
