Commenting on the Xbox 360 backward compatibility implementation, which will be performed by software, Kutaragi said:
"As for Xbox, when the new generation comes out this November, the current Xbox will become the old generation. So when that happens, the Xbox will be killing itself. The only way to avoid that is to support 100% [backward] compatibility from the first day. But Microsoft won’t be able to commit to that, it is technically complicated."

"Rather than separate pixel and vertex pipelines, we've created a single unified pipeline that can do both."

Explaining the role ATI hardware will play in the process, Harris states:
“They have implemented compatibility purely through emulation (at the CPU level). It looks like emulation profiles for each game are going to be stored on the hard drive, and I imagine that a certain number will ship with the system. They already have the infrastructure to distribute more profiles via Live, and more and more can be made available online periodically.”
Unified architecture gives Xbox 360 the graphical edge, so says ATI. PS3 may be faster on paper, but the Xbox's standards are easy to meet for grand scale games.
An ATI developer went into detail about the Xenos chipset used in the 360 and how well it went up against NVIDIA's RSX for the PS3.
Although the RSX is more powerful in terms of raw specifications - it runs at a higher clock speed for a start, 550Mhz rather than the 500Mhz speed of the Xenos part the unified shader architecture used by ATI will give Xbox 360 the graphical edge, which Nvidia has downplayed the importance of and has publicly stated that it doesn't believe that this is the best path to improved graphics performance.

Final Fantasy XI producer Hiromichi Tanaka will not confirm if the new project is the successor of FFXI. He doesn't specifically state that the game is coming to the Xbox 360. He does, however, state that the PlayStation 3 will probably need a hard disk in order to see Final Fantasy XI-style games, stating he was surprised to hear that Sony is considering not including a hard disk with the system.
Yes, we already know that every 360 game must support Live Aware, because Xbox live seems to be the very heart of the next gen sucsessor.But rumor around the internet suggest that Fable 2 will support some sort of MMO feature. It is unknown yet wether or not it will cost an additional fee on top of the Live subscription
(example: Phantasy Star Episode I & II for the Xbox) or will simply run free.
